Maroochydore

"No longer the small town."

Maroochydore has changed so much since 1998. That was the last time I visited.
There is this little Fish and Chips shop we use on Christmas Day, in amongst a small group of shops. Pity I can't remember the street name, how ever. One Australian and an Indian cook. If only they were on the water front, they would have done a roaring trade, but the food was so good, we're going back on New Years Day for another drive. Gee visiting such a great place twice in 20 years. Maybe a long time between visits, but I've always found Maroochydore to such a relaxed place. A little cramped in places NOW, but the beaches are so nice clean and all those council car parks where ever we went for those few days were full.
To me, that's a great sign, the locals are doing something right.
If only the locals could bring a bigger variety in to the place on this particular long week-ends, like Xmas and New Years. Only having a Fish and Chips shop open, who although has great food, there was a bar where people could drink and no security. Yes we went in, just to stick our noses in there and see what was available. Our fish and chips were $37.60 including service charges and the GST.
The Hotel/ Bar not too far away, wanted more than $25.00 for an entree and you can only imagine the prices for the main meal. Lets just say it would have cost us over a $100.00 per person for a meal there. I do understand Xmas time brings the prices up, but they were ridiculous prices and no wonder we could not see anyone in there for a meal.

Maroochydore we love your town, but times have changed and maybe we can help bring more people into to town for you.
There was this great looking Fish, chips and Hamburger place along the water front near where the boat ramp is. The local council should buy that place and employ their own staff to run it. On long week-ends and special week-ends and days, that place would absolutely make a motsa of sales.
There must have been around 300 people along in front of that shop. Then the other thousands of people spread out over the 5 kms from there along the water fronts.
What a fantastic place otherwise. Far better than Noosa Heads NOW.
