Browns Plains

"Affordable and super convenient living"

I have been living at Browns Plains for last five years, still love this little gem suburb, a suburb for down to earth working class, a suburb for young and mature families.
I love the decent priced large block house, where I can enjoy my private pool in the backyard surrounded by palm trees and birds chirping in every hot summer day.
I love have the opportunities to be able to afford to upgrade and extend the house as what I want it to be, because I bought it much cheaper than any suburbs in Brisbane.
I love the neighbours who will bring their tools to help for big and small projects around the house.

I love grand plaza shopping centre where I can find most of big supermarkets and department stores, except Myers and David Jones which I really buy things from, overly priced goods in my view. In a busy day, I can just go to western point shopping centre, across the road to grand plaza, where I can find another Woolworth with door step away car park and more than ten takeaway restaurants to choose my dinner from. Not to mention new trendy village square area, I can easy spend a nice weekend dinning out with friends in coffee club, outback jack ( we do need more middle range dinning options here however), or have a workout at one of gyms here. Bunnings and Master are always crowed with good spirits customers, as a good working class suburb should be. There are also other tens and hundreds of big and small businesses, banks and working opportunities.

Recreation and leisure, is simply back to nature way of living. Do visit nearby wetland park, five km paved running track around a few lakes and mostly shaded by bush trees, where you can see so many native birds, even swans and big palicons. There are more walking tracks at nearby Karawatha Forest. You may be interested go to the beach at Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, but need a bit driving, both within one hour driving distance.

There is not much of night life to entertain though. Event cinema at grand plaza, a few DVD rental shops nearby, and that's it. Most working families have their lights off at night well before ten o'clock, as they have get up so early to work next morning.

Crimes, my friend car window screen was smashed once when he park by the road. But I won't overly concern about it. Compare to the unit I lived at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, where the unit was broken in and car was theft in just two years time I lived there, let alone the news you hear female joggers were harassed along Brisbane river walkway. I mean anywhere there are people live, there are good and bad things happen.

Traffic and transportation is ok, depend on time of the day. My record driving to Brisbane CBD about 25 minutes on weekend and late or early hours, 35 to 45 mins at busy hours of the day; 35 minutes to Brisbane airport; 40 to 60 minutes to Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Public transport is no good, simply take too long to get anywhere, and life is too short for that hassle.

All and all, this is a suburb for everyday real people to raise family, to save money from buying overly priced Brisbane inner suburbs and spend somewhere else you enjoy, a place to live in peace and pleasant life, a place people say no to superficial sophistication, a place to rest your tired mind and body from this busy world.
