"Hills living near the suburbs"
Gorgeous location. Lush Australian flora and lots of wildlife. Has amazing walking and riding trails. Not much to do but it's conveniently located (20ish minutes to the city, beach, deeper into the Adelaide Hills). Extremely safe - never locked my doors. It was an absolute pleasure to live here.

"Picturesque Adelaide Hills Living"
Quiet, lush, with plenty of wildlife. Friendly but quiet neighbours, very safe - no need to lock the home. Not much to do but close to everything thanks to the freeway. Large properties with lots of character and variety but tend to be high maintenance. Very, very cold in winter. For the price, this must be one of the best locations in Australia for anyone that likes the Adelaide Hills lifestyle.

"Congested antithesis of the hills-living dream."
Due to massive developments of shoebox homes, Mt Barker has been transformed into a congested urban sprawl. The area has everything you need which partly makes up for you being in the middle of nowhere. Massive number of renters and low-income people and comes with the issues you'd expect with that demographic. Property is also a huge rip-off when considering $ per square metre. This once lovely location was destroyed by greedy politicians, local council and developers. Avoid at all costs if you're looking for an authentic Adelaide Hills lifestyle.
