East Cannington

"Not what its cracked up to be"

This area is definately good for shopping and public transport but that is where it ends. We are moving out of East Cannington for the fact that it is an unfriendly neighbourhood and is now being overcrowded. In the past three years since we bought, too many 8-block units have been built, which are not well cared for and the look of the whole area is being downgraded. The few parks are pretty barren, local shops are covered in graffiti and since we are now unable to walk our dogs at the local "dog friendly" park, why would we consider starting a family here?

It has all changed now. East Cannington is the place to be. The East Cannington Park has undergone tremendous change and has become a community hub, besides there is a strong community bonding, thanks to a few residents who have set up a Facebook group called Harmony Beyond Fences to bring the community together with 3-4 meet n greet events being held the past 2-3 years. The recently organised Harmony Beyond Fences Family Fun Day had over 200 residents attending besides the besides the City of Canning Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors and the Federal Member of Parliament Steve Irons!
The new Dabchik Park is another lovely place to relax.

I agree rachinoz. Large multi story flats and units has over crowded the area . Cars parked on the side of roads makes it difficult to commute safely. Waste bins left on verges all week round . Rubbish scattered around the streets . Just have a look at other areas that have high rise flats and units in history . Higher crime statistics and anti social behaviour . And turn into dumps. Even if implementing community based programs. Police are definitely having to spend more time in the area . Full time transit guards stationed at Cannington train station etc . Neighbour hood definitely not friendly too.
