I have grown up and proudly lived in Salisbury East for 17 years, and can say from my experience it's a fantastic suburb entry level buyers and families wanting a quiet and safe neighborhood with good sized blocks.

Most of the housing in Salisbury East was built in the 1970's on 600 - 700 sq. m blocks. If you prefer low maintenance there is a scatter of courtyard homes built post 1995, within infill sites such as the Ferns. The price point is cheaper than the neighboring suburbs of Golden Grove, Greenwith, Gulfview Heights and Salisbury Heights. However, it is a little more dearer than suburbs further west.

Public transport is relatively good depending on where you are. The best bus service is the 500/502 along Bridge Road which operates every 15 minutes on weekdays and goes directly to the city via the O'Bahn. However, after 7pm and on weekends, the bus is a less convenient with services terminating at Paradise Interchange. You'll then need to catch another bus if you want to go to the city. There is also the 228 along Main North Road and the 225, but frequency and duration of service is not as good. A drive to the city is 16 - 19 km depending on where you live. It will take you 30 minutes outside of peak hour, but could take you up to 55 minutes during peak times.

Shopping in Salisbury East will only cover small and convenient needs. However, you are not too far from The Village in Golden Grove, Parabanks in Salisbury and Ingle Farm Shopping Centre about 5 - 10 minutes away. Tea Tree Plaza and Elizabeth Shopping Centre are the major shopping precincts, both of which are about a 10 - 15 minutes drive. The 560 bus will connect you to Parabanks, Ingle Farm SC and TTP, but services are every 30 minutes.

My favourite aspect of living here is the Cobbler Creek Recreational Reserve. I enjoy running, and I know all the tracks well. It is a perfect place to unwind from a long day and get in touch with nature. There are also some good spots where you get a wonderful views of the Adelaide Plains. If you enjoy mountain biking, a peddler paddock has been built recently, which has become very popular. I have to say the new playground which was built is also quite impressive and is all in comfortable walking distance. There are also plenty of reserves and playgrounds among the houses as well so a really good place to live for kids.

In a nutshell, if you do consider moving here, I don't think you will be disappointed. There is a good mix of people from all different backgrounds and all walks of life. Most neighbors are friendly and polite and will tend to you when you go away on holidays. Public transport access is not the best in the Adelaide, but you are not isolated either. Nonetheless, there is plenty of green space to walk to dog or kick the footy.
