Beachmere

"Backward, going nowhere town"

Purchased a property and lived there full-time as owner occupier for several years & for the better part of that it became the worst place & decision I have made in my life thus far.

How did this place go so wrong? Well firstly, bad town planning. If you choose to spend your hard earned $$ on waterfront here - beware. Unlike nearly every other township on the Aussie coast, Beachmere does not have your family-friendly beachfront parks of adequate size (here you have the butt end of a road or off leash dog parks to use for recreation). Your waterfront home can quickly become encroached by members of the public who want to use the beach. This is primarily problematic at high tide when the beach is all but inundated & people/dogs/kids can very well enter your property (as the elevation is so low). No big deal? Well... that depends on your personal idea of privacy & the type of people who may enter your domain - there is quite a few colourful characters that roam around this backward place & nowhere is safe.

Beachmere will never have adequate services due to the fact that the town is landlocked by swamp & cannot be developed -A local mantra "we want it that way", - however the reality is half hour drive to nearest major supermarket or shops etc (1 hour return) Local services are limited, there will never be development to encourage a vibrant or attractive precinct (think Bribie or Redcliffe waterfront cafe's etc). Nup, it does not exist here & never will (and can't, waterfront is zoned low density residential & privately owned lots).

The fact that the town is so backward and disrespectful is also baffling considering its 1 hour to Brisbane - it would have to be the worst location this close to the city in any direction. The ''community'' revel in the fact that the area is what it is. Any nicety of Beachmere is usually quickly brought down by wrongdoing.

If you're looking in the Moreton Bay area, strongly consider any other coastal township before looking at Beachmere.

For the record, I have experienced many locations in the MB region including other seaside towns over many years.

I never thought of that, but yes you are right, look at Bribie, Deception Bay.. ANY waterfront for that matter, there's beautiful parks, esplanades, cafe's, walkways all that, here its bogans and dogs on the "beach" and there's nowhere nice for a picnic unless you sit at the end of a street or in the childrens playground area.
