"Little suburb surrounded by beach and parks"
We bought in Altona Meadows and have been living here for about a year. I was worried sick initially last year 2025 during the height of the machete attacks in the Western suburbs. There was one incident on the news where a man was mugged just outside the nearby shopping centre, right when we moved in. It made me paranoid for a while, but I've found the suburb to be peaceful and we have no regrets moving here after renting in the inner city.
The train station at Laverton is very accessible and on most days except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you'll find parking available even after 9AM. In terms of sports, we have a variety of options nearby such as baseball in Laverton, footie fields, tennis clubs in Laverton, Altona ane Point Cook and of course the Altona beach within 5-15 minute drive depending on which part of the suburb you live.
There is a bit of diversity in terms of residents' age and race. I have seen younger families, retirees and people with dogs walking to the nearby park on a daily basis.
I like that houses around still have front lawns and not those synthetic ones you see in similar suburbs and the streets are wide, especially ours, which generally don't have steet parked cars unless the neighbours have guests.
