Acacia Ridge

"Best kept secret in Brisbane"

I rented a house here, loved it so much I brought the house. My street is so wonderful I know all my beighbours by name. Christmas and Halloween and huge as everyone goes all out on the decorations. My neighbours are always helping me out with projects on the house.

I fee really safe and have no problem walking my dog at night. I am located 10 mins drive from Tooey and Karathawa Forest so I often go for bush walks in the morning before work. The pool is excellent with really good cheap classes, it has two indoor pools so can be used year round.

There are regular buses and it takes me 8 mins to drive to coopers plains station. I have never had a problem finding a park at coopers plains.

Aldi has just opened up in the suburb which is really nice. Acacia Rodge is only 15ks from the city, it takes me 20-25 mins to drive right into the city. It takes me 10 mins to get to garden city. The house prices are really reasonable, however I have noticed they are going up.

I love this suburb, I love my street and my neighbours, I can't see myself moving for a very long time.

  • Affordable first house buyers/ investors
  • Neat and Tidy

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids

Hi Sharleen! I would love to get your feedback on the best streets/pockets to look into buying? We're looking at buying when we move back to QLD and have seen some well priced homes - however I'm only really familiar with North Brisbane suburbs.

Thanks!!!!

Hi Nisha, I have only just seen this, so I hope this is not too late- the area that encompasses Hemsworth, Dunkeld, Wakely, Colborne, Oxley streets is the best area. The pocket over behind Woolworths is pretty good as well. Some pockets that are still a bit rough are Emily street - the side near Watson road, this has a lot of rentals:ex govey houses and people don't seem to care , but it is improving as they are sold to people who do them up. Also parts of Bellamy street arnt so good at the moment. It seems that the areas down near paradise road can have some issues. But I think this is all changing really rapidly. People are starting to realise how good acacia ridge is, prices seem to have gone up by $50k in the last year so if you are buying I would buy soon.

SharleenD, thanks for these comments. I know this is from a year ago but I'm keen on a house in Antrim Street. Just not sure because I'm working single woman with a baby daughter. I plan to buy here, but also to move if possible before she starts school.

Hi Sharleen, thank you for your constructive feedback on the suburb. We are looking to buy in Merchiston Street. Do you have any advice about this part of Acacia Ridge.
