Gembrook

"Unspoiled beauty and peace - we like it that way..."

Beautiful spot where Puffing Billy steam railway ends. Rolling hills of potato and dairy farms, with lots of natural bush. Friendly town with lashings of community spirit and all of the expected social outlets: footy/cricket club, scouts, RSL, Senior Cits, bowling club, netball team, playgroup, craft group, skate park, cafes. Some tasteful development going on close to town, but not too busy. Happening place on the weekend in summer, with lots of motoring, cycling and motorbike groups stopping for refreshments. Has a small independent supermarket with attached liquor outlet, a few food outlets, post office, vet clinic, hairdresser, stockfeed supplier, nursery. Watch out for wombats, wallabies, lyrebirds, owls, echidnas, wedge-tailed eagles and loads of other wildlife.

Great for

  • Clean, safe, quiet place to raise kids
  • Abundant wildlife
  • Buy local produce at the farm gate

Not great for

  • Bushfire a risk, but less than neighbouring towns
  • Public transport exists, but not brilliant

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees
  • Country Lovers
