Mascot

"Comfort and convenience at a reasonable price"

We are a DINK (double income with no kids) and live in the aero complex at Mascot. The area is very child and pet friendly with nearby parks, cafes, a convenient SPAR, affordable yummy eats for those lazy nights off cooking with choices of Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Italian, Dominos and very soon a very handy Woolworths, pharmacy, GP and more restaurants opening in 2016 at Mascot Central. Most importantly, it is very convenient to the city and work. It takes me half an hour to North Sydney and only 10 minutes to Central station. Trains come every 10 minutes which means I never need to look at a timetable. Getting to the airport only costs $12 (domestic) and a little more for international - very handy for those work trips. 10 minute drive to UNSW, 15-20 mins to Maroubra beach, 5-10 mins to Dank street, and walking distance to The Grounds. Happy days!

The other advantage is internet speed. We have NBN in the building so streaming Netflix on one TV and Stan on the other is never an issue.

The downside is aircraft noise, however it doesn't make the place shake or interfere with TV (like Lilyfield/Leichardt where i used to reside). The planes generally fly over Marrickville/Tempe so you do get the noise but its not deafening. After a while you just learn to ignore it and it doesn't bother me at all.

I'd highly recommend Mascot for couples or young families.

Great for

  • Close to UNSW
  • Pet friendly, nearby parks
  • Close to airport for those who travel often
  • Beach is not too far
  • Train, bus and roads to city, M5 are all good.
  • Train fare to the city is very reasonable now.
  • Shops are close by, SPAR, Bourke St Bakery, restaurants and cafes etc.

Not great for
