St Clair

"Overpriced and overrated."

I grew up in St Clair from the late 80's until 2012. In that time the suburb has changed significantly.

The influx of people now moving in to St Clair are not to be desired. There are a lot of "rough" types that make you feel like you live in Mt Druitt. I have regularly seen pregnant women smoking out the front of the shops, punch ups, every weekend the quix (now 711) was being terrorised by local delinquents including smashing signs and graffiting.

Luckily we lived in a cul-de-sac which I will say offered more safety then a main road however you wouldn't want to live on a main rd like banks drive.

Everyone speeds in St Clair. The local speed limit is 50kph however it is not unusual to be tail-gated if you're doing under 60. I had to recently go back there and I forgot just how much they speed / tail gate even when you have a baby on board sticker on your car.

Yes the suburb has McDonald's, kfc, hungry jacks and a lot of other fast food options but you'll notice the food availible is relevant to the demographic of people living there. The woolies is rubbish, they never have what you need. So many times is go to get 2 or 3 items and have to go to st Mary's because at Clair didn't have it. The car park at st Clair shops is a joke. On a Tuesday at 10am it will be full. Afternoons and weekends forget it, you'll be looking for a spot for ages which makes it super annoying to just duck into woolies.

Al in all, I would not suggest living in st Clair. It's full of derros, annoying p-platers, terrible shops and food options (unless you're a slob who eats take out everyday) you may as well buy in Mt Druitt as there is no difference between the two suburbs except price.

St Claire is a great place to live. Property prices are high reflecting good lifestyle, safety and caring community. It is a small area and very convenient for everything one needs. No clubs though but good schools and sporting facilities. Close to train station and will be the future growth area when new airport is build. Just 35 min by express train to Sydney cbd.

Soph, I have lived in St Clair for 29 years. I find your view of the suburb very much off the mark. I agree about the parking, but the people who live here are for the most part extremely nice & friendly. The shops are usually well stocked.

I agree with you.I have lived here since 1994 and have seen the suburb disintegrate.I have had my cats poisoned and also stolen. The street had our windscreens smashed.Break ins to 4 nearby houses.Large amount of serious car accidents (main rd),fences smashed in,letterboxes stolen. We are retiring now and moving way out of the area.Goodbye St Clair!!!

St Clair has changed in 40 years use to be nice place till ferals from Penrith, St Marys and Mt Druitt moved in. Nosey gossiping nuisance neighbours watch us and listen to everything we say totally being stalked. Mean rough looking people in our street. Burnout car and stabbing at a school near shops last year. Lack of parking at St Clair shops I prefer Woolworths at St Marys as I find more food stacked on shelves. My aunty lives in same area her dog was poisoned she also has neighbours that stare and give her the creeps.
