Algester

"Unsafe areas"
As a 20year old women I do not feel fully safe here at times compared to other suburbs. There’s a fair bit of hooning, and people are suspicious of those who go on night walks which I find odd. Will leave at the end of my lease

I’m sorry you’ve had that experience, but I have to respectfully disagree that it’s representative of Algester as a whole.
The reality is that every suburb in. Brisbane has small pockets where you might encounter hooning or the occasional troublesome resident, even some of Brisbane’s most sought-after suburbs like New Farm, Bulimba, Morningside and Ascot. It only takes a handful of people to create that impression, but that doesn’t define an entire community.
Having lived in Algester for many years, my experience has been very different. I’ve always felt safe, my neighbours have been friendly and supportive, and there’s a genuine sense of community. Most of the people here are families, retirees and long-term residents who take pride in their homes and look out for one another.
No suburb is perfect, but I don’t think it’s fair to judge Algester by the actions of a small minority. In my experience, those people are the exception, not the rule, and they certainly don’t reflect what the suburb is like overall.
