Ashgrove

"Great for the quiet life, but.........."

I've lived here over two decades. Its a beautiful place with wonderful old Queenslander homes--not a lot of flats-- parks and decent shopping with a Woolies, Aldi and Coles within walking distance of each other. Its not the place for nightlife, there aren't any pubs or cinemas and the local cafes are pretty pedestrian with a couple of exceptions.[A few new places have opened recently in West Ashgrove]. The spirit of community isn't what it once was as many of the older houses have been renovated and high fences put in, or leveled and modern anonymous dwellings built which do not blend in with the Ashgrovian character. Reasonably good bus service--no trains--and only 4 km to the city. For families the Marist College is a drawing card. In summary its the ideal place for families looking for the quiet life.
