Stephen Terrace

"Convenient and prestigious"

Although Stephen Terrace is a main road, the traffic really only gets busy during peak hours (between 8 and 9 am and then again between 4:30 and 6:30pm). There are no trucks, only cars, so it's not very noisy and rather gives you that city living feel of "being in the thick of it". I personally find it quite comforting. If you don't like traffic, then it is easily overlooked when you consider how convenient this terrace is. You can walk to the local pub (The Sussex Hotel), the shops on Walkerville Tce, the Linear Park, the Library, the local school, numerous bus stops, child care centre, Melbourne Street (where all the cafes and shops are) and you can even walk into the CBD. Stephen Tce is lined with a mixture of grand old Victorian houses, modern executive townhouses and some units. The Walkerville side of Stephen Tce borders the blue-ribbon suburbs of Gilberton and St Peters (across the historic bridge) so you know that property values will be high.

Walkerville

"Heaven... if you can afford it"

Walkerville is like a little town within a city. The area is very historic and features many beautiful Victorian stone houses as well as the newer mansions (many built in the Victorian style). It's an area for wealthy people, so expect to see lots of Mercedes and BMWs driving around :) This also means that some of the shops on Walkerville Tce are a little pricey. Walkervile Primary School is EXCELLENT and one of the most sought-after public schools in SA. You can try to enrol, but you won't be accepted unless you live in the zoned area. The proximity to the Linear Park make this a fantastic suburb to live in if you like recreation. There are good walking tracks and bike tracks as well as playgrounds and the river. All of this is within 5-10 mins from the CBD. Perfect!! It's one of Adelaide's most prestigious addresses.

Why has everyone have to rate Safe and Sound 4 stars. Walkerville has always been 5 stars for Safe and Sound for years and years now! You might have to change that, Tuscansun. And you too, Henry Gower.

I know that.I am not sure if that is 100% True about the whole having to live in the area to get a placement into one of the schools in Walkerville. In My Time when My Mum put me in for St Andrews back in 1989 to finish off my Elementary Schooling for the remaining two years of that part of my education after being very disheartened with the Public School System There was no such restriction. We had Kids living in Highbury,Vista,Tea Tree Gully,Colonel Light Gardens,Wynn Vale,Pooraka and in my case Salisbury in my home classes as well as virtually everyone else living within the close boundary of the school.I agree whole heartedly with the rest of the things written too. They even in the old days had a City to Salisbury Bus that used to go past St Andrews(206)Nowadays you catch a 202 from North East Rd to Ingle Farm Shops and connect onto a 500 or 502 the rest of the way.

Our office is located in the heart of Walkerville, and we have always found this area to be incredibly safe. The suburb is suitable to all of the above, and is especially popular with families.
