Underwood

"If you love nature, you'll love Underwood."

A combination of forest covered hills, and small farms in a peaceful picturesque valley, Underwood is only 20-25 minutes from the centre of Launceston. The commute is along a good road with light traffic. Lilydale is only 5 minutes away in the opposite direction and hosts a very good small supermarket, pharmacy, doctor, post office, take away, hardware shop and other small businesses. Only 30-40 minutes drive to beautiful beaches.

Underwood is home to Hollybank Forest Reserve, a lovely place for picnics and walks. Also nearby is Mt Arthur for those interested in more serious bushwalking. Other walking opportunities are found in the surrounding area, including a number of lovely waterfalls. There are vineyards, small galleries, and pick-your-own fruit farms, all nearby. An excellent nursery is worth visiting for its beautiful Japanese inspired garden alone.

Underwood is a community with many creative and friendly people. It tends to attract the more alternative types, those who like to get away from the city and live in a clean and natural environment. It has good rainfall and most areas have good soil.
