Russell Island

"Undiscovered Paradise"

ONE DAY, people from Sydney and Melbourne will discover Russell Island and then suddenly the idiots in Brisbane who've been dissing the place for the last twenty years will go blue with envy. But by then it'll be too late. Try getting a waterfront block of land in the southern cities for $200,000 or less. It's ridiculous!

Great for

Not great for

  • NO BRIDGE

Who lives here?

The only people benefiting from the island are the barges the ferries and the slashers ATM because only a hand ful of decent locals want the bridge to go accross in order to make life easier. In order to get progress more people need to speak out and protest against profitiers who dictate when and when you can come and go as honeat paying rate payers. Build a real bridge and get over to Russell to enjoy a perfectly futile island. There are no cons about a bridge. Grow a brain. The locals are struggling and need a bridge thanks. It's in humanitarian to isolate a growing population. May I also add that a bridge will sort out the bludgers from the doers. Stand united and protest for it make some noise people power is needed. !!!

I agree we need a bridge, we would live there permanently if we could come and go without outrageous costs

yes please Build a Bridge. We have just purchased land on the Island. for retirement. We would build sooner if there was a bridge as my husband works on the Gold Coast. Having a bridge would make it quicker and easier for him to get to work

Peter I agree on the bridge the farmers in Jacobs well just sold out all the sugar can land left for a development of a small town to be built but they have an island paradise just ten minutes across the water build the bridge you scammers

Hey, names Ross, semi Retired, intending to move there late January, single, going to rent, Getting away from the Gold Coast. Computer tech, want peace and quiet, it's a pity there are not more facilities there for people to meet or buy needed things, and it sounds like the police are like Gestapo. or the council is. Sue P- If You choose to live on an island You will be aware when You make that choice that there is no bridge. If You were an unlucky one who purchased in 1974 when those false promises were made, thats sad. But lets face it, governments and developers lie and are rarely held accountable in Australias history. The Australian government has killed its people & land since it formed.
If You want a bridge - build a bridge!!

Is Russell Island affected by floods during the winter months or anytime there are bad storms?

I'm interested in investing in a property on Russell Island. I have read a few of the comments so far which I've found very informative!
