Sunshine

"A Classic, Old World Inner Suburb That Could One Day be Fantastic"

I've lived in Matthews Hill for nearly two years - it's quiet and leafy with lovely period homes and the train station on the doorstep. However, where I live - and the fact I work in the city - allows me the luxury of rarely having to go to the Sunshine shops. Downtown Sunshine is by and large ugly, seedy and devoid of anything interesting to do or buy (although there are some good cheap restaurants). It's a shame really as Sunshine has so much potential. It's full of attractive period buildings - including some wonderful Art Deco - has nice parks, is close to the city, is multicultural in the true sense and has great public transport. I also feel safe here despite its reputation and often catch late night public transport home. It's the first place I've lived where I haven't needed a car, and in a decade will probably be the next Yarraville. But for now...well at least I can be smug in the knowledge that when its time finally comes I got in here when property was cheap.
