"Great for kids and a scenic place to live"
I grew up there in the 70's and I have wonderful memories of the bush tracks and exploring Prince Henry Drive. Very scenic views and although all homes are aged from the early sixties to the mid 80s, its much better than the similar priced homes in Toowoomba and resale value is first class with no homes that look the same.

"Great for families, and room to grow"
Great location, with near new homes with all major amenities and parks close by. The Rocket bus into town is brilliant, and the main stop is in Mount Ommaney shopping centre with runs to Indooroopilly, Toowong, City and Valley. The train is a let down - the nearest station is Darra and the train takes longer than the bus.
Heaps of large good quality homes aged between 10 and 20yrs old, but beware of dodgy agents. Stick to the big franchises and you won't have problems, but the one-shop independents and 'boutique' agencies are notorious for not following correct procedures or paperwork and carrying out rental inspections that fail both lessor and lessee...choose very carefully and don't pick anyone out of the area - local knowedge is a must. Make sure everything works in the property too - some of these homes are getting older and hot water systems, plumbing, electrical systems and sewage piping will be needing care in some places.
Downsides...NO CINEMAS, NO ADULT ENTERTAINMENT!! Cinemas were rumoured to have been considered by the owners of the shopping centre during its redevelopment, but there were no takers - nearest cinemas are Indooroopilly and the local pubs are good for meals only - no entertainment or nightclubs (foodwise, the Monier Hotel in Darra is the pick of the bunch). Also, the shopping centre is a mall brat magnet because there is little apart from a skate bowl and some parks for the kids to hang out in - teenagers should be encouraged to bus it in to Indooroopilly or the City for movies. The biggest tragedy was the demolition of the Amazons water park on the river some ten years ago...extremely popular and sorely missed. The standard of restaurants is ok, but go into Kenmore or Indooroopilly for Indian, and if you want variety apart from the usual fast food joints, head there too. The area sorely needs a Sizzlers or Lone Star steakhouse, and it will go gangbusters from day one when it opens.
