Doreen

"Doreen... not what your being told."

Looks like the reviews here have been written by people desperately trying to talk up their falling property values.

The place is just another town full of little boxes. What started out with nice big blocks and parks, is becoming much more high density housing with ever growing government assited rentals and undesirables.

The roads and public transport are terrible and there is nowhere you can go to avoid the frustration of traffic.

Lots of promises have been made to the people buying into this estate and they have been very slow to deliver on even the basics of those promises to date.

It's a very anglo, with bland restaurants, and cafe's full of "want to be" cashed up bogans talking their latest aquisitions to keep up with the Jones'.

In summary, despite recent falls to property values the place is still ridiculously overpriced for the facilities, infastructure and distance from the real world.

Great for

  • Good access to parks

Not great for

  • Traffic congestion
  • Poor resale
  • Constant development/construction noise
  • No train
  • Some less desirable persons
  • Teens with nothing to do and no access to activities

Who lives here?

  • Singles
  • Families with kids

There will always be someone who has a negative experience and as a result a negative view of any place. I would not place much store in what this person has to say. Not because I dont believe he is genuine ( I wont stoop as low as he did to suggest otherwise) but rather because I know for a fact that his view is neither a reflection on Doreen nor is it the view of the great majority of people who live here a love it. Doreen is a lovely place to live. Yes its far from the city and yes it is not perfect, like no place is, but it is green and peaceful and full of nice and friendly people. You can get coffee here that is as good as the coffee in any place in Melbourne, and that is saying a lot. You can buy pizza here that is better than any place in Melbourne. The Indian and Thai restaurants are similarly top notch. Yes there is some food that is bland but then that is your choice. The facilities are actually top notch. Great choice of schools and doctors, dentists etc. The real issue is lack of train and library but they are coming. In summary Doreen is a really beautiful place to live and a nice relaxing day to come home to. Having said that come and see it for yourself and make your own judgement.

Wilstan I have to totally disagree with you. Your views are so extremely off that it makes me believe you are some internet troll.

Another vote for Doreen. Its a lovely suburb. I am very sad to see some people trying to paint such a wrong image of it.

Lol this guy reminds me of that Scooby doo episode where some property owner dressed up as a ghost to scare off people so he can buy up more property
