Dods Street

"A cautionary tale..."

Dods St combines all the worst elements of modern Brunswick.

Tacky urban infill has replaced the beautiful old brick factories that this street was once known for. Medium density, low cost housing dominates, with many people not even knowing their own neighbors.

The most notable human construction of the street is the carpark, which accounts for around 20% of the street frontage, is a magnet for anti-social behavior on weekends, and the street probably has the highest per capita rate of motorbike ownership in the postcode.

Not great for

  • Antisocial behaviour
  • Lack of lighting
  • Loud

you obviously don't live in Dods St, maybe you have it confused with somewhere else! Yes there is a council carpark at the end but have never in 13+ years experience antisocial behaviour in it. This street has one old factory - old Holeproof factory that is anything but low cost housing - and one 4 story high newly built set of apartments closest to the carpark and one 2 storey set of units at the other end. The remainder of the street is single fronted family homes. As for motorcycles...... I think I know of maybe 2 or 3 in the street. It is approx 50m away from Sydney Rd yet despite this it is one of the quietest streets I have lived in

Evans Street

"A jewel in the Crown of Brunswick"

Evans St, wedged between the bustling strips of Sydney Road and Lygon Street, offers an oasis of calm in an otherwise booming part of the city.

A few minutes walk in any direction and the wonderful amenities of the suburb unfold before your eyes.

Parks, cafes and bars are all a stone's throw from this location, offering something for everyone.

Next to no traffic, friendly neighbors and a legacy of council planning with one eye on the heritage inheritance of the future generations demand a big 'thumbs up' from me.

What a wonderful place.

Great for

  • Close to everything
  • Friendly neighbours
  • Safe and quiet

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Students
