Being originally from Noosa, then living out west for a few yrs my family was looking for a change.
We only bought a house in Yeppoon as it was cheap, and really it still is a cheap place to by.
We dont have freinds or family here, and we thought what a great place Yeppoon can be for a new start.
I have 2 teenage boys who go to the local high school, they think its pretty good,
my daughter who is 8 loves her school, but finds that she is always being bullied.
The problem that my wife and i have is that the night life, is just not what coastal life should be.
Its something that you would expect from a country narrow minded night life, there are always fights amonst the locals 'lots of fights'
Some of the beaches along the coast here are, well it makes me sick, the amount of glass and rubbish. The local council tells me that they wont put bins along the coast beaches, because they get stolen, WELL CHAIN THEM DOWN, THEY DO EVERY WHERE ELSE IN AUSTRALIA.
Kemp beach for example, its a beautiful beach, WERE ARE THE BINS THERE IS NONE, it makes me wonder how many times in the past that a person has cut themselves and no one knows about it. And they were thinking of investing in Yeppoon and thought stuff this place.
The local skate park is like the local dump, my son tell me that 1 day a counciler came to the skate park to ask the kids how the council could make it cleaner.
The kids said put in more bins, so the next day a council worker put stickers saying put the ribbish in the bin. Thats dodgy.
Sunday afternoons there is now place to go, other than the Strand if you like live music, and there is not enough time in a day for me to start with that place. EYE SORE.
There needs to be a local backpacker resort as there is none, or cheap accomodation.
Yeppoon can be a awesome place to live, yes it is quiet the locals are friendly during the day, and at night, well just dont look at them.
I have no intensions of selling because i can see that it can be a great place to live, it just needs to be updated, it will never be like the coasts down south as there is no real surf, but the islands are beautiful.
