Moving to Hobart (from NZ) with a 6 year old and 3 year old

we are looking for a family friendly suburb with a great public co-ed primary school. We like beach life, walking to cafes and parks, housing with character/history. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi YVS, I live in West Hobart and it is a great spot, ideal for all local cafes, theatre & schooling choices & walk to the city 5 mins. I am actually selling 3 houses in the area, as we are retiring - see the following property ID's: (our accommodation properties) No. 107902111 - No. 108246311 and (Our Home No. 108108541) as we are moving. I'd strongly recommend not to go down south, due to traffic issues, nor go over the river to the eastern side(u then always need to come back over the bridge!) nor go north towards Glenorchy. Hope this helps. www.appleisle.com.au - our cottage business.

I'd recommend West Hobart. It's a short walk away from North Hobart where there is many shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, banks in NH there is also a post office and state cinema. You can also easily get to town from anywhere in the suburb of West Hobart. There are two co-ed schools Mount Stuart Primary (which is close to West Hobart) and Lansdowne Crescent Primary, you didn't mention your children's genders but high school wise there are not a lot of
co-ed schools. Here's a list of a few high schools that are around West Hobart (kind of) Co-ed: Taroona High, Friends, Sacred Heart, . All male: St Virgils, Hutchins, New Town. All Female: St Michael's Collegiate School, Mount Carmel,Ogilvie High, Fahan School and St Mary's. Sandy Bay beach is about a 15 minute drive from West Hobart and it's a great place to have a picnic or catch up with friends. Hope this helped (:
