Adelaide - reasons for living in?

I've always felt Adelaide has received a bad rap as a place to live just because of it's size (and perceived lack of opportunities).

What are some of the top reasons for living in Adelaide (and beyond)?

C'mon South Australians!

The value for money is terrific, even though prices have been on the up, there are soooo many suburbs where you can find affordable homes and still feel like you live in a great area. The city centre and North Adelaide is great, it will probably never have the 'spice and variety' of Melbourne as Melbourne's size and culture has helped it achieve this status, yes I like Melbourne too!

However, the quality and number of eateries and shopping is adequate in Adelaide providing plenty of options.

We came to Adelaide from UK in 1966,I was working for the Dep.of Works Grenfell St.office and we bought a new
house at Roberts Rd.Hackham.our two children attended the local school. After about 2years our parents were
very sick and we had to return to UK to care for them.I have always had a soft spot for Adelaide and sitting here
in rural Northamptons snow covered countryside wth the temperature at 30 degrees(F)I remember the kind folk
who helped the "Pommie" family adapt.Obviously I do not know what it is like now, probably all built up now,and
all the Almond orchards gone. But Adelaide was always my favourite Port(I was on the "Strathmore" P&O liner
from 1950-53)

As a parent with two youngs ones, I wouldnt live any where else. Its a great town, friendly and always lots going on. Living on the beach front as well, makes this an awesome spot. I came from South Africa, so this to me has been a long holiday! Jacque Opie Toop&Toop

Adelaide is one of the great place in Australia. It is a very great and amazing town. It is famous tourist icon of Australia. Adelaide has launched a raid on British talent with a campaign luring families to its Mediterranean climate and 'recession-free' economy. As South Australia's seat of government and commercial centre, Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. I just love Adelaide. Well i have amazing information about Australia, it is very useful information. Just Visit : http://www.australiavoyage.net/

Most South Australians are quite happy for Adelaide to continue to have that kind of "reputation"...

Adelaide is a simple and beautiful city. Big enough for business, developement, education, but it hasn't lost that small town essence.
Everyone knows someone in Adelaide and on a night out in the CBD or Glenelg, you're more than likely to cross paths with a former neighbour or an old school friend.
There are also some fantastic property bargains in Adelaide at the moments, whether you're looking for an investment property or your dream home =)

It's easy to find employment here, and we have great eateries and beaches. I would much rather live in Port Lincoln or Mount Gambier, though.
