Couldn't ask for a better agent

Charles did not listen to us. He did the bloke thing and talked over us (two women) every time. We found him to be patronising and happy to insult us. 

To start with, Charles bullied us into agreeing to his commission rate, without giving us enough time to do our research. We probably would have agreed to his proposal anyway, but would have liked the time to consider. We were quite clear that this was not your average Belconnen residential property, yet he used a property that was nothing like ours as the benchmark. I specifically told Lutons that I didn't want a Belconnen specialist, I wanted someone who knew more about non-standard residential, but Lutons just sent Charles. The aggressive "get the contract" tactics left a bad taste.

Charles did most things badly. He couldn't even be bothered to remember our names. Despite one of the USP's being that the property was rented, he didn't fill in the form correctly and so the contract was prepared for an untenanted property. It's not like the form is complicated.... He had been dealing with the tenants, so one would think he could get that right. I was overseas when this was being finalised, so it cost me quite a few dollars in phone calls sorting that out as well as solicitor's fees to fix his mistake. 

And then there was the phone calls to me at work, where he obviously hadn't bothered to open our file before he called me. Was it because I am a woman that he thought that my work time wasn't valuable and that I was in a job where I could take 20 minutes to remind a real estate agent (who we are paying) what our names are? Or is it OK to be so insulting to all customers and to ring them without having the information you need in front of you? It was this sort of getting the basics wrong that really annoyed me and wasted my time. 

He also let the new owners into the property before settlement and didn't bother to check the property afterwards.... they had left all the upstairs lights on. I guess we are lucky that is all that went wrong. 

Then I had to endure Charles telling me on four or five occasions that he normally gives all his customers a bottle of bubbly when they sell. He didn't for ours . Obviously the $25k+ commission he got from us wasn't worth him bothering! So why tell us? Why tell us and deliberately insult us? Was it because we are just women or is this level of insult and incompetence applied equally to his male customers? That he wasted my time while I was at work to tell me this certainly did not make me feel happier about the fact he thought it was OK to tell me that he treats all his other customers better than he was treating us! Seriously! 

And then there was the weird correspondence from Lutons.  They send a proforma letter, trying to be personal, congratulating us on our sale and taking credit for work our solicitor did. It just made it so obvious that customers really don't count... or they just only count and are just only numbers. 

We were satisfied with the final sale price. Just satisfied nothing more. 

Not recommended. I certainly won't be using Lutons again.
