Alamo Square Seafood grill is right around the corner from the Pink Ladies and is the only restaurant that is definitely within Alamo Square.
Right at the border, on Divisidero, there are a few spots--there is Bar Crudo (a raw food bar), you can also find a couple of Ethiopian places there (one that has live jazz, I think) a pizza place and Safron--and Indian place. A lot of people consider Divisidero as more a part of NoPa than part of Alamo Square because it has a pretty different feel than the rest of Alamo Square.

I not sure there are "best restaurants in Alamo Square." Honestly, the area around the Square is mostly residential (think of the "Painted Ladies"). You might be better off trying to eat in NOPA or Hayes Valley.
