Visiting Aldinga Beach was a delightful experience that left a lasting impression on me. What I loved most about this coastal gem was its serene ambiance and unspoiled natural beauty. The wide expanse of soft sands and clear waters was perfect for unwinding and soaking up the tranquility of the ocean. The ability to drive along the beach added a unique sense of freedom and adventure, allowing me to explore different parts of the shoreline and discover secluded spots for relaxation.

Moreover, the friendly locals and welcoming atmosphere added to the charm of Aldinga Beach. I enjoyed interacting with fellow beachgoers, sharing stories, and learning about the local culture. The availability of amenities and delicious dining options nearby made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, Aldinga Beach captured my heart with its stunning vistas, laid-back vibe, and opportunities for both relaxation and exploration, making it a place I would love to visit again in the future.

If you’ve ever daydreamed about packing up and moving far away to a quaint seaside town, but worried that you might miss the modern conveniences of suburban living, Aldinga or Port Willunga may just be the perfect solution.



These sister-suburbs are an easy 45-minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD. Travelling south toward the Fleurieu Peninsula, city streets give way to wide, open fields and sprawling vineyards, framed by the breathtaking backdrop of the Mount Lofty Ranges.



All roads into this once exclusive holiday-town lead straight to the coast. With its soft, white sand and incredibly clear cobalt-blue waters that endure as far as the eye can see, Aldinga’s coastline would not feel out of place in either Fiji or Puerto Rico.



Featuring one of only a few drive-on beaches in South Australia, the warm summer months bring with them the opportunity to pack a picnic in the boot, drive down to the shoreline and while away hours relaxing beside the water, waves lapping at your feet.



The Aldinga Aquatic Reserve boasts some of the best snorkeling in Australia; the vibrant, protected reef offering up a thriving underwater wonderland full of marine life. More active individuals will appreciate the spectacular coastal hiking trails, while locals launching their boat right off the beach for a spot of fishing is a regular sight. Nature lovers are also in for a treat, where they can immerse themselves within the vast, 300ha boundary of the Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park. First settled in the 1840s with farming its primary focus, Aldinga was built as a pit stop along the ‘Old Coach Road’ and offered a welcome break for those transporting produce along the coast. At its peak, the town was home to two mills, churches, a hotel, blacksmith, and a total of six pubs.



By the 1890s, the easy travel route, stunning setting and established conveniences saw it become a popular tourist destination, and holiday homes began to spring up along the coast.



During the same period, nearby Port Willunga established itself as South Australia’s second busiest sea port. Two jetties dominated its shoreline, and today, several pylons - known as 'the sticks' - still protrude from the sand, providing a strikingly beautiful backdrop for keen photographers. Alongside the old ‘Fisherman’s Caves’ - originally carved into the surrounding cliffs to store boats - and the wreckage of the Star of Greece, an ill-fated cargo ship that met its demise just offshore in 1888, these are the only remnants of the town’s industrious history.



Today, Port Willunga is most well-known for its charming, old-world cottages and attracting celebrities seeking a more laid-back existence. Luxurious experiences define its offering, and the award-winning Star of Greece restaurant, its name derived from the aforementioned shipwreck, is a popular destination for both residents and tourists. Perched atop a cliff, guests can unwind, glass of local wine in hand, while being treated to one of the most exquisite coastal views you’ll find anywhere. It really is bliss.



And just like its early days, Aldinga continues to combine the best of both worlds - maintaining its relaxed and friendly holiday vibe, while offering all the amenities of modern life. With a veritable buffet of shops, cafés, bakeries and restaurants to choose from, plus easy access to reliable public transport, everything is within close proximity. You’ll never want to leave.

Stunning local Beaches, a plethora of welcoming cellar doors nearby- Take the dog too! Dog park, skatepark, and fabulous local eateries. Couldn’t quite bring myself to drop the 5th star for the frustrating lack of a railway station (after decades of promise) the next year or so will be difficult with traffic due to South Rd duplication. Bus services are slowly improving over the years. My younger friends with kids have positive things to say about the new super school.

If you like 4x4ing, and the beach, then this is the ideal place for you to visit. There is an incredible beach, with wonderful 4x4 tracks in and around the area.

Have been here for 10 years. Loved it up until the last 2/3 years.
Too much development, too many hoons. Not the quiet beachside town it was. The new Superschool, I'm guessing will just make it worse. Might be time to move to Sellicks!

Aldinga Beach is an outer southern beachside suburb of metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia. It is located approximately 50 minutes from the city and is considered one of the hotspots for best beachside suburbs in South Australia. I love Aldinga Beach! It's full of potential but the way it looks somehow makes you feel your actually in a beachside town rather than a suburb. Even though it's a bit far from the city, it's still a perfect place to raise a family and even better to have for a holiday visit! Shops in this area are fantastic, as you have the Aldinga Central Shopping Centre only minutes away, eateries, and to add the parking, is all of what makes Aldinga Beach the perfect holiday suburb.

Internet access in the area I have no idea about, but is NBN-ready (has been since 2014), so it should be good. Close by to Aldinga Beach, or in the suburb, include childcare centres, schools and medical facilities, all within an arms reach. The area is also very friendly, and bumping into friendly shoppers or neighbours is an ordinary experience. Safe, peaceful and pretty clean, my cousins and I feel relitavely safe walking around the area on a warm/hot summers night when dusk arrives, and we have never had an issue with this. House purchasing in this area is cheap, so is perfect for small/medium families or holiday houses. The houses in Aldinga Beach do need renovating and fixing up, but other than that, houses are well-kept and tidy.

Most of above is positive, however, there are very few negatives. The area is located within 50 minutes, and depending on the traffic or time, from the CBD. It doesn't have great nightlife and so do surrounding areas such as Sellicks Beach, Moana or Seaford, for example, and parking in some streets become a little narrow. Other than that, Aldinga Beach is awesome.

For the best part of this suburb, Aldinga Beach is home to the beautiful, clean and crystal Silver Sands Beach. Silver Sands Beach is literally located within the vicinity of Aldinga Beach and from the size of the area itself, walking to the pristine beach is minutes. Silver Sands is also one of the few beaches that allow cars to be driven and parked along the sand! It's amazing! The water is also twice as amazing, with no seeweed (figuratively speaking, but still, its a rare occurrence), crystal clear and very clean waters makes swimming very enjoyable, and the waves can also be included on fun-time list!

Overall, Aldinga Beach is filled with beachside quality and offers an amazing yet slightly rural beach atmosphere, with all amenities close by, a beach that is beyond superb and a very peaceful and safe suburb. 20 years ago, aldinga beach was a quiet peaceful town. Now, too many housing estates have been built. It still does retain some of its original character but it is becoming more and more of an outer suburb and less and less of a quiet town. However, there are nice beaches and scenery nearby.

I have lived in Aldinga beach for over 7 years now and i absolutely love it. If your looking for somewhere to raise your children or even to retire well think about moving to aldinga. Three schools.. public, christian and catholic. Shopping centre with a variety of specialty shops. We have some of South Australias most popular beaches including Aldinga beach and Port willunga beach. But dont stop there, its only a 10 minute drive to Willunga and Mclaren Vale for all your fine dining and only a 20 minute drive to Colonnades and a 45 minute drive to Marion. Do you know what i personally love about aldinga??

Aldinga Beach is a growing community with great beaches and hill views, the best of both worlds.

Aldinga Beach is open to all, surfers, singles, retirees and families. The area feels like a holiday retreat, some where you can escape too when times are tough. The Aldinga Beach is the highlight of the area, with pristine beaches and clear waters, it is the perfect area to enjoy over the summer period. As I am only a passer-by to the area, I can not give further comments to living in Aldinga Beach. I can say that this is an area I would happily move too and enjoy later on in life.
