We have recently bought in Newport. On Woods st. The refinery can be very smelly, particularly at night. And when the wind is blowing SW in our direction we definitely have to close up the house. It's part sulphur like, part kerosene smell and happens at least once a fortnight. Good luck getting Mobil to cop to it though...

Depends where you buy - close to the beach - no issues at all.
