We have a budget of $1.1 mil, is that enough to get us 4 bedder with pool in Ascot?

And can anyone recommend good suburbs for families, good schools, close to city with good cafes and restaurants close by in Brisbane. We are relocating from Sydney and have not spent much time in Brisbane so any advice would be good.

Given that you’re considering Ascot, I’ve listed similar suburbs going by areas of Brisbane.

East:
– Hamilton/Ascot
– Hawthorne/Bulimba

Central:
– New Farm/Teneriffe
– Highgate Hill/Kangaroo Point
– Paddington

West:
– Indooroopilly/St Lucia
– Chelmer/Tennyson
– Fig Tree Pocket/Brookfield/Pullenvale

Most of these suburbs have great primary schools and are within close proximity to prestigious private schools including:
– Brisbane Grammar School (BGS)
– Brisbane Girls Grammar School (BGGS)
– St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School
– Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie)
– Somerville House
– Brisbane Boys College (BBC)
– St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School

If it’s the cafe lifestyle that you’re after, Hamilton and Ascot are particularly good for that. Ascot State School has a fantastic reputation too.

It is possible in certain pockets of Ascot on a smaller lot (ie 405m2), but would be in need of renovation most likely. Would recommend other areas such as Hendra, Nundah, Albion, parts of Clayfield or Wooloowin.
