What is the best neighborhood to live in ATL?

Relocating to Atlanta and need help with finding an area to live. My husband will be working the CNN building and we have two little girls (2yrs and 5 months old). I would like to rent first before committing to any particular area. We don't mind spending the money to be safe and have reasonable commute. Please help!

Candler Park and Lake Claire are nice (slightly less expensive) alternatives to Inman Park. They are the neighborhoods immediately to the East of Inman Park and share the same elementary school, Mary Lin, which is one of the best in Georgia.

Grant Park is nice, but its assigned elementary is Parkside, which is getting better but not nearly as established or strong as Lin. We moved from Grant Park to Candler Park to massively upgrade on the school. As an added bonus, Candler Park has more restaurants and shopping options. Even when we lived in Grant park, we found ourselves going to Candler Park/Little Five Points for restaurants and shopping.

One of the most expensive, but nicest central neighborhoods is Inman Park. Grant Park is also very nice and family-friendly.
