You're a bit outside of the action in Balboa Terrace. If you are looking for a place with a lot of bars and nightlife, you need to get closer to the city--like the relatively nearby Haight.
On the other hand, if you like to get away from the noise and hecticness of the city, but still be close enough to drive in about 15 minutes or so this might be a good bet. (Say if you are a SFSU student and want to be inbetween the city and school.)
