Reviews of Barellan Point, QLD

"Beautiful Semi Rural."

With such a high number of owner occupiers and such a low number of rentals, this is a fantastic place to get to know your neighbours. Great parks, access to the river for fishing and skiing, access to great schools, and a fantastic community spirit make Barellan Point a terrific place to live.

Looking for a home in Barellan Point?

"Wonderful middle class family suburb. Safe, Quite and affordable."

Barellan Point. Well, I've lived here now for over twelve months. We are a young professional couple with no children that wanted the lifestyle of affordable acreage living. However, we thought we could manage the "30 mins" drive to the Brisbane CBD every day. Unfortunately it isn't 30 minutes. It’s more like an hour. Therefore we cannot enjoy our perfect plot as we now leave in the dark and come home in the dark six days a week. Back to CBD suburban living we go.

GOOD THINGS:
* People are friendly, helpful and has a real community feel.
* Most people keep the area and their backyards tidy and mowed.
* The local trades people are fantastic. Same day service every time.
* An area for families with kids at school and its affordable to enable mums to stay at home.
* Ten minute drive to Dinmore to catch Brisbane CBD train.
* Excellent for 1st home buyers looking for a bargain.

THINGS THAT COULD IMPROVE:
* Roads need upgrading.
* No street lights, sewerage
* I assume the Gas companies think that we live in Woop-Woop because it takes them three weeks to refill gas bottles for cooking and hot water.
* The local tavern, Karalee Tavern is the only restaurant unless you wish to drive to Ipswich or Redbank for something other than fish and chips.
* Telstra coverage for mobile phone and internet is great. Optus, Vodaphone and 3 have too many black spots and drop outs.
* More Local jobs in Ipswich to enable Professional people to work closer to home.
* Too many stray dogs
* Dominos is the only company that delivers

It’s a lifestyle choice living in Barellan Point. Those small suburban conveniences’ aren’t here. You have to drive everywhere. Whereas benefits of living on acreage, fishing off our pontoon, having friends over and getting slightly rowdy don’t annoy anyone else.
I imagine a family would be more suited, they could have a pony for their daughter, motorbike for their sons, chickens to feed, cubby houses, fishing and just generally enjoying that outdoor living. Dad most likely is a tradie so he can come home in the daylight and enjoy a beer on the pontoon with a line in. It’s a suburb for the people who have time to enjoy their time at home.

Good luck house hunting!!
