"Good for family"

It is very good town for family. Little local shops and bakery are near home and school and kindy are also very close. Everytime I walk on the footpath with my son ppl walking past say hello first. Houses look old but it def has a character :)

"Family friendly area"

I have been living in Basin Pocket over the last five years and I bought my first home here not knowing the suburb well(I only bought the house here coz the price was affordable). But as I live I met lovely neighbours and local shops and I just love everything in here. So handy to go to the shops, library, parks etc. Ppl often think Ipswich is rough area but some parts are definitely family friendly :)

"Hidden Gem"

Had never heard of the suburb until recommend by a local electrician and family friend. So we as family decided to scout the area before purchasing our house here.

I was pleasantly surprised with low Crime, proximity to Ipswich CBD, train station and affordable housing on good size flood free blocks.

No hoons or traffic to disturb in evenings and ample breathing space between neighbours unlike new developments in Ipswich and Brisbane.

5 mins drive to Ipswich CBD, walking distance to Ipswich Junior and Ipswich Girls Grammar. Also only 40 mins to Brisbane CBD and 75 mins to Gold Coast beaches.

"Quite area by the Bremer River"

I have lived in Basin Pocket for the last 5 years. I moved here because I could not afford to buy my first home in Brisbane. The homes are older but well built and have a yard. This was important to me as I have kids and they love to play outside. What attracted me to the area was it was only 2km to the ipswich cbd, 3km to the ipswich hospital and 3km to the river link shopping centre and a 15min walk to the east ipswich train stataion. It is really quite and has been a great place to raise my family. Lots of parks and close to key services. The prices are affordable too. There are small pockets which flooded in 2011 so check on the council site to see which sections were effected. However it was a small area affected.

Great for

  • Close to public transport
  • Close to shops and services
  • Quite

Not great for

  • Some sections will flood in extreme conditions.
