Reviews of Bent Street, McKinnon
"Not so Bad"
I have lived in McKinnon for 3 years now and have generally found it "Not so Bad" The shopping strip at the Bentleigh end is good with much variety, however it is a little overpriced. I am an older resident and do not feel as safe here as I did when living in Caulfield. I live on a street that backs onto the railway line and have heard youths walking along the backfence, with serveral graffiti attacks and many evenings upsetting my dog I prefer the quite streets of Caulfied. On the plus side I have a wonderful neighbour.

"Easy access to Public Transport, shops, restaurants & schools"
Bent street is in a great location - just a 5 minute walk to Coles & and all Centre Rd has to offer! Mckinnon train station is just a short walk away however, the trains cannot be heard. McKinnon Rd has lots of new stores & restaurants opening up with staple take away always on offer.
Mckinnon boasts plenty of green leafy parks & playgrounds as well as child care facilities & schools - all within walking distance. I would highly recommend Bent street for its central location, friendly neighborhood & well kept housing.

Bent street - Not hear the trains!!!!! Trains can be heard especially if property backs onto trainline.
"Very busy street, some houses tiny back gardens backing directly on train lines."
I have lived here and found the street very busy with a lot of traffic using it as a cut through to centre road. We lived in a property backing on to the train line, and although you get used to the noise, not a situation I would choose. You pay a lot for small properties often with outdated floorplans. My daughter went to Mc Kinnon College and it, along with most states schools had its own share of problems.

Could you tell us more about the school? What are its strengths and weaknesses?
You must be lucky enough to live on the even numbered houses in Bent Street, I live on the odd side & we back onto the Trainline and the trains most definately can be heard. I cannot agree that I would recommend Bent Street, with noisy trains, parked cars on the street day and night and rowdy youths. I can however agree the shopping is great.
