Whilst building in the streetrecently we were approached by several neighbours who made themselves known to us, invited us to drinks etc and in general just made us feel welcome!
There are a great little set of shops in Hamilton Road - fruit and veg, deli goods, DVD shop, pizza, chook and chips, news agent, the BEST bakery, chemist, milk bar.
We have access to 3 really good bus services where we are and we are located between Westfield Chermside, Centro Toombul and have Nundah Village only a minute away - for local restaurants, Woolworths and the Train.
We have great views and some people ask how do we live on a busy street - no issues - its Queensland - we live on our back deck!
Like any suburban setting you get the standard "sounds of the burbs" - dogs barking, kids screaming and someone that loves his leaf blower. There also a few homes close by that could do with a tidy up and maybe some new occupants but hey with all that said this location for our home provides us with a beautiful home without the inner city price tag, access to public transport, close proximity to great shopping and excellent medical care.
Our neighbours are perfect for us - we wave and say hi, look out for each other without living Ramsey Street style in each others pockets.
Its still only a $20+ cab ride from town after a big night with the luxury of a still reasonable price tag.
We love our suburb.
