Reviews of Birtinya, QLD

"Modern new suburb, centrally located on the coast with heaps of amenities and infrastructure"

Birtinya is a relatively new suburb, meaning modern new houses, none of the lower socio-economic issues the older suburbs have. Blocks might be smaller but neighbourhood is safer and there's lots of parks, bike ways, and public outdoor space especially by the lake. Great position with easy access via multiple main roads (Kawana Way, Sunshine Coast Motorway and Nicklin Way). So much infrastructure there already and more to come its going to be a good suburb to invest in with the Sunshine Coast health hub, new hospital, commercial precinct and now a big shopping centre being built with a Coles and ALDI and outdoor dining precinct. Childcare is close, lots of good schools nearby in Little Mountain too.

Looking for a home in Birtinya?

"Southerners would enjoy this suburb!"

I find Birtinya to be built for southerners! Blocks are small, apartments and homes are tiny and the price to these homes is quite high for what you get in comparison to the rest of the coast. This is purely because of the Hospital precinct. Southerners however would find the pricing of homes a bargain in comparison to what they are used to paying. There are lots of parks and recreational areas but with the amount of construction that's going on there is a lot of rubbish in the waterways which is quite sad. It's pretty quiet at night time but the Emergency Chopper for the hospital hasn't started yet so hard to tell if that will make a difference. No nightlife if you are a social butterfly but you aren't that far away from everything else on the coast. No grocery store so you need to drive to the next suburb for supplies. Because this is a new estate it's NBN ready so internet speeds are fantastic. All parking in Birtinya on the street will not be allowed in the next few months and you will be fined if you park on the street. Local childcare centre is right next to the hospital so it's easy to get to.

Great for

  • Pretty safe area
  • Lots of parks & recreation areas
  • Public Transport available

Not great for

  • No gyms, shops, grocery stores or nightlife in the residential area
  • It's expensive for what you get
  • No schools in Birtinya
