Brainerd isn't bad for singles. It's cheap, not too dangerous (though it could use some work), and the people are overall very nice. My issue with the neighborhood would be it's distance from Downtown and it isn't the youngest area. You could do better, but also worse.

Brainerd is an area that has seen a lot of growth lately. It has a strong sense of community and includes a pretty diverse population, including singles, families, and professionals. I think it is a great neighborhood for singles if you don't mind a bit of a commute to downtown.
