Affordable but great suburb for a single mum?

I am hunting for a affordable but nice area in Brisbane to live?

South of the Brisbane river I would recommend Fairfield or Yeerongpilly for a single mum as they are both quiet, close to public transport and also close to several parklands. Both suburbs are reasonably priced for renting or buying. There are several schools located close to these suburbs which have strong reputations, including St, Sebastians (Private School in Yeronga), Junction Park State School (Annerley) and Yeronga State School.
