Best suburb to live with family in Brisbane?

My family and I are emigrating to Brisbane from the UK. We are having a majoe dilemma on where to live! We need to have good transport links to CBD for work, but have no desire to live too close! We would like to be close to good amenities, shops, cafes, restaurants, good high school and pref near the coast or small beach area. We hope to rent initially then buy but need to start somwhere that we can stay until my daughter age 14 finishes school. Price for rental around the $500pw. Help anyone? I am going around in circles looking!! Its so difficult being 10000 miles away. Thank you for any suggestions!
