Young couple looking to move to Brisbane/Brisbane Area but not sure where to look

Hi There

Me and my partner (both 22) are looking to move into Brisbane/ Brisbane Area and haven't spent anytime in Brisbane and don't know which suburbs would be good in terms of living, we currently live in Canberra and enjoy living in the outskirts of the CBD for the quietness and laid back feel which is what we are looking for. We would prefer to stay South of Brisbane but are open to suggestions. We are unsure whether to buy or rent either, if we were to buy it would be under $380,000 otherwise $400 for rent. We have a dog as well so places we could walk him such as parks etc would be great. Perhaps somewhere modern as well?

Many thanks for your feed back :)

Camp Hill and Coorparoo are nice. Windsor sounds like the sort of place you would like, although it's north of the city (about 5km) - buses and trains to the city, lots of cafes. The western side of Gympie Road is nicer than the eastern side.

Hi Justine

2 suburbs I would recommend you have a look at if you are considering buying in that price bracket are Rocklea and Acacia Ridge. The average prices in these 2 suburbs to buy are in the early $300ks. Both suburbs are in close proximity to the CBD but still have the quiet, laid back feel you are looking for South of the River.

Rocklea is only 15 minutes from the CBD, good public bus services and has a train station. It also has several park areas for walking the dogs, including Kookaburra Park. Acacia Ridge is a bit further from the CBD, taking roughly 20 minutes to get there by car. For under your budget of $380k you could get a really tidy house (with a pool) in this suburb.

$400 per week rent would go a long way in getting you a nice property both these suburbs as well if this is your preference. If you need any information or help on buying/renting a property South of the River, or need me to recommend a good loan broker, please feel free to give me a call on 0432 334 767 or via email on [email protected]

I hope this helps

Regards Mark
