Is it true the suburbs starting with "M" are a big no-no in Cairns or is this old news now?
Cairns City, QLD 4870 is located within the Cairns local government area, part of the Far North Region in Queensland.
Looking for a good place but cheap enough in Cairns area. What are Manunda, Manoora, etc. like?

No I wouldn't give much credence to this popular phrase; there are some very nice areas in these M suburbs and generalising may cause you to overlook or miss out on certain properties which might otherwise greatly appeal to you. Besides the once "worse" suburbs eventually become quite sought-after over time (St Kilda!). Anyone who firmly believes this statement should probably also avoid suburbs starting with P, B, C, W and E!

Crime rates are highest in these suburbs and also others like Bungalow and Parramatta Park. If you don't mind the likelihood of having your car broken into then no worries. These suburbs are cheaper for a reason.
