Hi Michael
The closest beaches to Capalaba are at Wellington Point (at the end of Main Rd) and Thompsons Beach Thompson St, Victoria Point. They are both modest in size but great for a family day out and both have play area, bbq, covered facilities etc
For surfing beaches you'll need to go a little further and both Stradbroke Island or Main Beach, Gold Coast will serve you well.
