Chambers Street, Coburg, VIC 3058

Chambers street is a wide tidy street three blocks in length running north to south & parallell to Sydney Road which is some 200 metres away. Sydney Road provides trams scheduled 5-7 minutes, a further 5 minute walk finds you at Coburg train station with trains scheduled every 20 minutes. On this stroll you will pass the elderly citizens hall, bowling green, medical centre, Coburg Football ground & the leisure centre just beyond,many diverse traders- clothing & shoe shops green grocers, cafe/bars, restaurants, continental, halal & asian butchers & delicatessens & seafood. The Coburg Market houses a variety of traders. There are also the usual supermarkets.Chambers street is also a designated bike path which allows you to access the extensive bike tracks that criss-cross Melbourne. The neighbors are friendly, culturally diverse, not intrusive but still keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. The traffic is generally light & cars are mostly parked off street. The street scape generally consists of period homes (Victorian & postwar probably 60-70%). Houses are tidy and generally well maintained, each having a nature strip & established, mostly native trees. Curbs are blue stone edged. There are roundabouts at each intersections and the southern end doglegs into a narrow road that takes you across Sydney Road and access to the eastern suburbs. The northern end becomes a T intersection at Harding Street. Left to Sydney Rd. Turning right takes you to the Merri Creek bike & walking track (500mt) which follows the creek basin extending from Craigieburn(30 km. north) and south through Northcote, to the Yarra River or through Fitzroy to the city.
