"The hub of the Bundaberg Region!"

Childers is known for its historic buildings, shady tree lined streets and acts as a major economic centre in the Wide Bay-Burnett Region and is undergoing considerable growth. It is a popular destination for tourists as a convenient place to stop because of the good variety of shops, supermarkets, service stations, banks and more. Plus a go to destination for backpackers because of the many fruit and vegetable farms. Farms in the area thrive on the rich volcanic soil with an average rainfall of approximately 42 inches.
The town services the surrounding areas with its small hospital. Childers has its own courthouse. The town has several emergency service faculties including a police station, ambulance station and fire station housing Fire and Rescue Queensland Staff and Queensland Rural Fire Service volunteers. It also hosts a branch of the State Emergency Service and PCYC Emergency Services Cadets program. Childers has many general local services, an art gallery (Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery- BRAG) and Information Centre.

Located: 45 mins to Bundaberg, 1 hr 40 mins to Gympie 2hrs 30 mins to the Sunshine Coast, 3 hrs 20 mins to Brisbane Airport

"Childers - Small town with interesting sites"

Located about 300 kms north of Brisbane on the Bruce Hwy, Childers is surrounded by sugar cane fields as well as farming areas and is at the beginning of the Burnett Hinterland. The property prices in the area are not bad and there are some bargains to be had. Childers is often remembered for the Backpacker Hostel fire tragedy some years ago. Explore the art gallery, pharmaceutical museum and tourist information centre. Wonder around the streets of this town and see the many old buildings from yesteryear. Many of these building have been heritage listed. Being close to the Fraser Coast take a drive and relax on the pristine beaches where you can often see dolphins and whales on their annual migration. The visitor can stay at one of the local motels, hotel or caravan parks.
