Hi Katie, This is a tricky question, because technically there is a designated dog beach at Christies Beach.....however in recent days the pooches are let run free by owners the entire length of the beach. The dog beach is north of the Christies Creek outlet (near Gulfview Rd)....according to the Onkaparinga Council. When I lived there we walked regularly on the beach with our little children (2 - 4yrs old). We tried to avoid the dog beach end, but that didn't stop large dogs charging around....and sometimes scaring our kids. The bottom line is that dogs love the beach, and we used to keep our kids close to avoid any hassles....and it was good fun watching the pooches fire up and down the sand. It's a great beach, and everyone seems very friendly.....hope this helps. Cheers, Jason

It would be useful to give the times of year and times of day that dogs are allowed, and what areas of the beach apply to each. Cheers Barry
