"Cooks Hill – Blue chip suburb edge of Newcastle CBD - Newcastle’s version of Sydney's trendy Paddington"

Cooks Hill is one of the most picturesque inner-city suburbs of Newcastle and I call it The Paddington of Newcastle. The CBD as its neighbour, being Australia’s 2nd oldest city, with streets lined by lush trees & Victorian terrace houses with a large Heritage precinct, its popular corner pubs, walking distance to Bar Beach & trendy Darby street with shops, wine bars & restaurants, stunning parks such as Civic Park hosting Olive tree markets + a Harris Farmers Marketyou have a real winner.

"A great place to live"

Cooks Hill is an amazing place to live. It is so close to the CBD, Darby St and all the fabulous beaches but yet it is surprisingly peaceful and quiet. The only con about Cooks Hill is the lack of parking if you don't have an off-street spot but the atmosphere and lifestyle here far outweigh that. Cooks Hill has so much character, I have found it a lovely place to live with my family and I would never leave if it were possible.

"Only a 10 min walk into Newcastle, Cooks Hill is a lively, close knit centre."

Being so close to Newcastle this area is great for anyone who has not got a car. Cooks Hill is a really old residential area of Newcastle with narrow roads, very little car parking (cause they didn't have cars when these houses were built), but slowly and surely being revamped to become a very trendy area.

New trendy cafés are springing up all over the place and it is becoming quite the arty centre to hang out. As well as the trendy cafés there are trendy shops springing up as well. If you are wanting to purchase something just a little bit different, then this would be the place to go.

It leads into a hilly area at the back and this is an interesting place to see. From here you can head over to the surf beach which is very, very popular.

There are not many major cities that have a surf beach only 5 mins away.
