Reviews of Dharruk, NSW

"Quietly Imperfect"

I bought a house here a year ago after 6+ months of researching the 2770 area ... despite a few minor annoyances (which I've experienced in many other more pricey suburbs), I've not regretted my decision. I bought a house I could afford to own without having to suffer financially. My neighbours are quiet and keep to themselves but are also not afraid to wave or have a quick chat. They've been very welcoming. This suburb is a good investment for your own residence or as a rental. Most of the homes are well taken care of - with the odd one needing some work. Yes there are "bogans" but you get them everywhere, and in my experience they might be the ones to hold the door open for you or let you in line at the supermarket because you have less items than they.

* close to Emerton shops (all the conveniences including fast food, supermarkets,medical centres, etc)
* close to sports complex
* few minutes drive to Mt Druitt Westfield, pool, library etc
* parks and reserves within walking distance
* affordable houses on decent blocks of land
* public schools within walking distance
* quietly imperfect

"Normal suburb in Western Sydney"

I once had to drive out to Dharruk to play in a big poker game in the area. Dharruk is located in the Western Suburbs of Sydney and is about a forty to fifty minutes' drive to the city. It is a very peaceful suburb with the houses all having nice lawns. Despite it being close to a few other suburbs that have bad image problems like Bidwill or Shelvey, I basically saw nothing of the sort except for very cheap looking properties on big plots of land. The RSL I was playing at was very well renovated and look totally new. There were plenty of big screens and looks like a great place to meet the locals and enjoy a nice one whilst watching the footy.
