Hi GSDDNA,
I wouldnt say it is "common" to build a 2 storey home anywhere, it really depends on the owners budget in building. Many people decide not to go 2 storey, as majority of the block sizes are large enough for people to build 4, 5 or even 6 bedroom homes as single storey without the need for going up.
There are a few spread around, but it would be more common to find single storey homes :)
