Am I going to get bitten by sandflies if I live in Elliott Heads?

Depends where in Elliott heads you live. If you live down near the river/ocean, yes. If you go further up then not nearly as much. We lived in Blue Water Drive, and I couldn't go outside without being eaten alive .. to the point of getting a Vitamin D deficiency, because I simple DIDN'T go outside at all ! We moved further up Elliott Heads to Hargreaves Street (very close to the bowls club) and got maybe one or two nips on a non-windy day, we moved again, 2 blocks down (heading back to the river, but nowhere near, really) and got more bites, but not nearly as bad as Blue Water Drive. We've moved further up Elliott Heads now, closer to Knudson street, and I've had no midgy bites (sandflies) at all.

The oldies around here swear that if you take Vit B regularly, you will avoid being bitten. Others say Vit B with added Vit C. Others swear by olive oil and dettol .. none of these worked for me. My husband swears that hairy legs saved him a lot of the time. I'm a girl, and we're not going there.

Other than that, Elliott Heads is the BEST place to live, friendly locals, good real estate, 20 minutes from town which does cost in petrol, but the peace and tranquility here is worth the petrol prices.
