Reviews of Emerald, QLD
"A fantastic town to live in no matter if your young or old."
We love living in Emerald, a few years ago we had a mid life crisis and moved to the coast and hated it so much! We missed the country way of life, where you know people when you walk down the street, where you don't have to lock your house up and you can still let your kids ride their bikes to school and feel that they're safe!

"A Friendly town that has a good country spirit and when you get to know the locals they would do anything for you."
Based in a mining and agricultural area, there are many varied activities to occupy your time. There is a healthy social calendar and various physical activities to take part in. It has an 18 hole golf course, swimming pool that is heated and a kids area, squash and tennis courts, skate park, basketball, football, touch football is very strong. Virtually any sporting activity you require can be found in Emerald.
It is a great town for young familes with several good parks and facilities for children. The shopping is limited in the area, but it doesn't seem to stop the ladies finding a frock fro the races or that special night out.
There are several selections for education in the area from day care all the way through to tertiary studies and everything in between both private and public.
I really liked living in Emerald and am sad to be leaving.

"Emerald - Perfect place to fossick or fish."
Emerald is about 263 kms west of Rockhampton on the central Queensland coast. Here you can see the Largest Sunflower in the world mural, the pioneer cottage museum complex or take a coal mine or cotton gin tour. From Emerald you can go fishing at Lake Maraboon or visit the gem fields, but you must obtain a fossickers licence. Fossicking equipment can be hired. The area offers plenty of accommodation options. For those wishing to live in Emerald, it is a generally young population offering modern sporting and recreation venues, good schools and there is modern housing available with some good buys to be had to suit most budgets. Rental accommodation is not over priced either.
