Reviews of Fernvale, QLD
"Quiet small town"
Fernvale is a growing town, the estate is quiet and the majority of homes are well kept. The town has plenty of shops/services. The estate is extremely quiet apart from army planes that fly over regularly, I'm not sure of this is temporary or permenant but it is a bit of a pain as they can be quite loud at times. It is a 1.5 hour drive to the middle of Brisbane in peak hour traffic. 22mins to Ipswich riverside shopping centre. So far we are very happy we moved here.

"Closer than you think!"
I love Fernvale, i love the small town feel but with modern ammenities and with access to the Warrego Highway in 10 minutes it's not too far out to commute. We bought our home in Honeywood Estate well over a year ago and were surprised at how friendly and quite the area has been. NBN to our door, a great shopping centre down the road and everything is within walking distance. We moved from Brisbane and have really enjoyed the change. The weekends are always busy in town with the bakery, markets on a Sunday and with Wivenhoe Dam just down the road, there is always something to do. No regrets about moving to Fernvale.

"Quiet and Convenient"
Fernvale is a lovely place to live, been here since 2005 and could not be happier. A local Woolworths complex is only a 2 min drive and the local produce markets on Sundays are great. A short drive to Ipswich and Riverlink shopping centre. The neighbours are friendly and this is the perfect place to bring up children with a primary school at Fernvale and a Secondary school at Lowood. The new sporting complex is also good for the spin class. We work in Brisbane and make the daily commute which is now around 45-50mins with the upgraded Ipswich motorway.

"A real tree change, without the price tag"
Fernvale is in the Lockyer Valley, nestled between Esk, Lake Manchester and Wivenhoe on the Brisbane Valley Highway. It's like the best of both worlds, less than 20 minutes from Ipswich CBD and only 35-40 minutes from Brisbane, yet it's a peaceful, semi-rural paradise. What attracted us to Fernvale was that it was obviously going ahead. It already had most of the things a small town needs to make it viable like pubs, shops, cafes, a school, etc., but there was so much new infrastructure development happening there including a supermarket/shopping centre, a medical centre, child care centre and more. For us, Fernvale has all the charm of nearby Esk, but without the inflated prices. You can walk anywhere in the town, but if you want to take you care it's easy to park too. And you can still buy a house and land here for $300,000!!!

I'm concerned about the growing aircraft noise from Amberley...only likely to get worse over time
